02 What malziME is – and what it is not
malziME is an educational and awareness tool. Based on an uploaded photo it shows what AI algorithms and data brokers might claim about a person.
- All generated profiles are fictional, unproven and serve educational purposes only.
- malziME is not a diagnostic tool, not a personality test and not an assessment of real attributes.
- The results are not statements of fact. They merely show how algorithms could work – not what a person is actually like.
03 Audience and age recommendation
malziME is aimed at pupils, teachers, parents and anyone who wants to understand how algorithmic profiling works.
- Under 10 years: use is not recommended. The content presumes a basic understanding of data processing and media literacy.
- 10 to 13 years: use is recommended only with educational supervision. We recommend using the example photos rather than one's own pictures. Under § 4 of the Austrian Data Protection Act (Datenschutzgesetz, DSG), processing personal data of children under 14 requires the consent of a person with parental responsibility.
- From 14 years: suitable for use in workshops and for raising one's own awareness independently.
04 Permitted use
You may use malziME in order to:
- educate yourself, or others in the context of workshops, about algorithmic profiling and data protection,
- analyse your own photos, stock photos or the example photos provided,
- use and share the results (for example PDF exports) for educational purposes.
05 Prohibited use
The following uses are expressly prohibited:
- Misuse of the results: profiles may not be circulated as statements of fact about real people. You may not use the results to insult, discriminate against, bully or expose other people.
- Photos of third parties without consent: do not upload photos of people who have not agreed to it – unless they are stock photos, or the use takes place within a supervised workshop with the corresponding consent.
- Illegal content: uploading illegal content, content glorifying violence, pornographic content or child abuse material is prohibited. Mistral AI screens all requests automatically for such content.
- Automated access: bots, scrapers or automated bulk requests are not permitted. malziME is protected by rate limiting: a guide value of roughly 500 requests per 10 minutes per IP address, plus a hard limit of 500 analyses per hour in total.
- Circumventing protective measures: attempts to circumvent the abuse protection, rate limits or other technical safeguards are prohibited.
- Commercial use: using malziME or its results for commercial purposes (for example paid profiling services or advertising profiles) is not permitted without prior written consent.
06 Photos and data processing
The full description of the data processing is in our privacy policy. In summary:
- Your photo is processed briefly for the analysis only and deleted immediately afterwards – it is not stored permanently.
- The generated profile sits on the server only briefly, until your browser collects it, and is deleted after roughly 2 hours at the latest.
- There is no tracking, no cookies, no analytics and no advertising.
- The AI analysis runs through Mistral AI (Paris, EU). Mistral may not use the data for its own purposes. On the paid API tier we use, there is also no AI training on inputs or outputs. Details are in the privacy policy.
You are responsible for making sure that you have the right to upload a photo.
07 Disclaimer
- No warranty for results: the AI profiles are guesses. malziland accepts no liability for the accuracy, completeness or appropriateness of the generated content.
- No liability for misuse: if you use results contrary to these terms of use (for example to expose third parties), you bear sole responsibility.
- Availability: malziME is provided as a free educational tool. There is no entitlement to continuous availability. The service may be restricted, changed or discontinued at any time.
- Technical limitations: the quality of the results depends on the AI used and may vary. Faulty, unsuitable or incomplete profiles are possible and do not constitute a defect.
08 Intellectual property
- The source code of malziME is open source and available on GitHub. The licence terms deposited there apply.
- The malziME trade mark and the design of the website are protected by copyright.
- Profiles generated by the AI belong to nobody – they are fictional, machine-generated texts with no claim to copyright protection.
09 Workshops and educational use
malziME was designed for use in supervised workshops. For workshop organisers the following applies:
- Responsibility for presenting the results in an age-appropriate way rests with the teacher or workshop leader running the session.
- For participants under 14 we recommend obtaining the consent of those with parental responsibility – especially where real photos of participants are used.
- We recommend using the example photos provided, or stock photos, in workshops in order to avoid data protection questions.
- The „Beast Mode“ deliberately generates exaggerated, provocative profiles. Use of this mode should be educationally supervised and appropriate to the age of the participants.
10 Changes to these terms of use
malziland reserves the right to change these terms of use at any time. Changes will be published on this page. Continued use of malziME after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
11 Applicable law, place of jurisdiction and language
Austrian law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. For consumers, the mandatory provisions of the Austrian Consumer Protection Act (Konsumentenschutzgesetz, KSchG) apply without restriction. The place of jurisdiction is, to the extent legally permissible, Linz, Austria.
The EU's online dispute resolution platform was discontinued on 20 July 2025; a link to it would lead nowhere. For the out-of-court settlement of consumer disputes, the recognised Austrian conciliation bodies remain responsible, such as the Schlichtung für Verbrauchergeschäfte. We are neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
Language. These terms of use exist in German and in English. The German version is the legally binding one: malzi.me/nutzungsbedingungen. Where the two differ in meaning, the German text applies. Names of Austrian institutions, courts and registers are given in the original — a translated name cannot be looked up anywhere.
